The Real Earl

Meet Earl

He's not a character. He's real.

How It All Began

A Show Pig With a Different Destiny

Earl began his life the way most show pigs do — raised with care, entered in competitions, and expected to go to market when the season ended. He was a good pig. A great pig, actually. The kind that earns ribbons and turns heads at the fair.

But Earl's story took a turn no one quite planned for. When the season was over, the Vasquez family couldn't let him go. Earl came home. And in doing so, he became something none of them expected: family.

He roams the backyard now. He has opinions about breakfast. He knows his name. And he inspired every single page of this book.

Where It Really Started

It All Started With a Little Mojo

Before Earl, there was Mojo. The Vasquez family's first show pig — the one who started it all. Mojo was the beginning of a love for show pigs, for the community, and for the life that comes with raising them.

Mojo's memory lives on in the name of the publishing imprint Jennifer founded to tell these stories: A Little Mojo Publishing. Every book in this series carries a piece of that first pig's spirit.
